Description
The Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Atmospheric Research, Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Lab, Miami FL has a requirement to acquire instruments manufactured by Sea-Bird Electronics as a back-up system for the next field season beginning October 1, 2004. The instruments will be used as a backup for an existing Seabird CTD platform in an experiment taking place winter 2004-2005, in the South Atlantic Ocean. To purchase a different system is cost prohibitive. The Government intends to purchase the following from Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc: 9plus Underwater Unit for 911plus CTD includes modular Temperature and conductivity sensors with TC Duct. SBE 5T submersible pump, redundant T and C input channels, 8 differential input, low pass-filtered A/D channels, stainless steel guard cage, SEASOFT software, and complete documentation; 9p-1a aluminum housing, 6800 meter depth rating; 9p2d 0-10,000 psia (6800 meters) pressure sensor; 9p-4 300 baud modem module for water sampler control (Option 11p-1 in SBE 11plus also required for water sampler control; primary and secondary 9p-6a SBE 43 Dissolved oxygen sensor, 7000 m (standard connectors) Cable and mount; 80410 24 position carousel electronic/release, 6800 meter with standard connectors and standard interface for 911plus or AFM; and 17196 interface cable 9plus to 32 std conn 2 meters (DN30568).
