Description

NAVAIRTSD has a requirement to support the U.S. Marine Corps' AV-8B Training Devices. This requirement is a proposed sole source modification to Vacuum Optics Corp., Tucson, AZ. 1 SCOPE. This Naval Air Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Statement of Work (SOW) establishes the requirements for the Depot Level Repair of GE/Talaria Light Valves for the Marine Corps? AV-8B Training devices, 2F149-2 and 2F150. The Period of Performance for this effort is from contract award to 30 November 2004 1.1 BACKGROUD The United States Marine Corps? AV-8B training community has three flight simulators that use the GE/Talaria Light valves in their visual projectors. These simulators are located at MCAS Cherry Point, NC and MCAS Yuma, AZ. The GE/Talaria Light Valves are pert of a sophisticated visual projection system that was developed in the 1970?s. These projection systems had become obsolete over five years ago as this technology had been replaced in all systems but the three AV-8B simulators. Refurbishment of the light valves is a highly specialized task, which requires special equipment and specialized technical skills. 2 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS. N/A. 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Depot Level Repair. The contractor shall provide Depot Level repair and refurbishment of the GE/Talaria Light Valves provided by the Government. The contractor shall repair the light valves to perform as a like new unit. 3.1.1 Inspection. Upon receipt of the failed light valves, the contractor shall inspect and test the units to verify fault/failure. 3.1.2 Repairs. Upon completion of inspection, the contractor shall place the unit into the maintenance cycle. Repair of all units shall be completed within 120 days of receipt and returned to the simulator site from where they were shipped. 3.1.3 Quality Assurance and Test. The contractor shall ensure that the repairs conform and are tested to the original equipment specifications. 3.1.4 Shipping. The contractor shall be responsible for round trip shipping of the light valves.
