Description
The National Institutes of Health Office of Science Education, within the Office of the Director, has a requirement for the development and production of a web-based curriculum supplement for use in introductory undergraduate biology classes for science majors. The offeror will develop one curriculum supplement that will allow students to utilize mathematical, computational, and physical science methods in solving biological problems. The supplement must be consistent with the goals and recommendations in the 2003 report from the National Research Council, BIO 2010: Transforming Undergraduate Education for Future Research Biologists. [The report is online at www.nap.edu/books/0309085357/html/index.html] The period of performance is 30 months. The offeror is expected to field test the supplement in a variety of institutions across the nation, including research universities, teaching colleges, minority-serving institutions, and community colleges. Those schools are to have populations that represents the intellectual and diversity spectrum found in American colleges and universities. NIH intends for the materials to be freely reproduced for educational use. NIH will allow free access to all online materials developed under this contract. The materials will not be used by any organization or business for sale or profit. The online components of the curriculum supplement must run in the IBM Domino/Notes environment. All web pages must be "Web Ready" and suitable for Microsoft's Internet Explorer on the Windows platform and Apple's Safari browser on the Macintosh platform. Solicitations will be issued on or about April 30, 2004. Only written requests will be honored. No telephone requests will be accepted. All requests should include name of organization and points of contacts with phone, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses. Please include the solicitation number on all requests. Offerors' proposals will be evaluated on meeting the needs of the requirement. The Government reserves the right to make an award to the best advantage of the Government, cost and other factors considered. Please send all requests to OtubuJ@od.nih.gov NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (25-MAR-2004).
