Description
Contractor to provide healthcare resources in accordance with Public Law 104.262, 38 U.S.C. 8153 and VAAR Part 873. Contractor agrees to provide a General Surgeon at the VA Medical Center, 4815 Assembly, Spokane WA. 99205. The General Surgeon shall be Board Certified. Physician must be able to start on October 18, 2004. If candidate is not available to start on October 18, 2004, offeror will be determined non-responsive, if after award it is determined candidate cannot start on October 18, 2004, contract shall be terminated for cause and award shall be made to next lowest offer. Price is an all-inclusive rate of per diem, travel, and price/cost. If the Offeror is submitting more than one physician to cover the terms and conditions of this contract, offeror shall submit a schedule along with your quote indicating the time frames that each physician will be scheduled to work. Providers will need to be scheduled for orientation/training prior to the start of their weekday shift, at the government?s expense. * Process of determining contract award: VAMC Spokane award preference will be as follows: 1) award to the lowest-priced responsive, responsible bidder who offers a Board Certified candidate in General Surgery, 2) if no qualified bidder offers a candidate who is Board Certified in General Surgery, then award to the lowest-priced responsive, responsible bidder who offers a Non-Board Certified candidate in General Surgery. The contractor will furnish a physician who is board Certified in General Surgery. General Surgeon (s) will see an average of 10-20 patients per day in the clinic, depending upon OR schedule. On operating room days there can be up to 2-3 cases per day. General Surgeon (s) will be assigned to the Surgical department and will perform general surgery in the Main Operating Room, conduct surgical clinics to see new consults (including inpatient consults and surgical ER patients), and perform follow-up care. Some minor procedures may be done in the Same Day Surgery Area, located near the surgical clinic. General Surgeon (s) will follow their patients while they are an inpatient, and follow those patients of the other staff surgeon when on call. ICU skills are necessary. The primary workweek is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Twenty-four seven (24/7) on call will be shared with the other staff surgeon as well as responsibility for making weekend rounds. Over the past year, less then 50 cases have required the on-call surgeon to be called in unexpectedly. However, surgeon may also be required to handle clinical situations over the phone while on call. The Surgeon will have responsibility for but not limited to providing consultation on outpatient and inpatient referrals, evaluating the need for surgery, providing follow-up care, pain management, and performing the actual surgery within the scope of privileges granted to the individual. ICU management of patients may be necessary, including consulting and working with three staff hospitalists who manage the medicine service inpatients, and those surgical patients who require internist interventions Tours of duty is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30 p.m., plus Weekends, Holidays and after-hours on-call.
