Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles and Materials and Manufacturing Directorates are requesting information and follow-up discussions to support research and development of rapid response imaging spectrometer sensor payloads suitable for integration on a government provided spacecraft bus and interface to government furnished data storage and processing system as part of a rapid development experiment. The total hyperspectral sensor subsystem should include: telescope; optics; spectrometer including the Focal Plane Array; control and read out electronics; pre-delivery characterization; documentation; and integration support at a government facility. The completed sensor payload will include a plan for delivery of the flight hardware sensor subsystem to support tactical satellite system concepts with objective development time to launch from 12 to 18 months. A classified document has been created that outlines the performance goals of a desired sensor payload. AFRL would like industry response to this document in terms of the areas of highest risk or design trades to meet the overall proposed program objectives. AFRL is considering funding development in this specific technology area and is attempting to gauge industry interest and capability. Responses should be sent to: Air Force Research Laboratory/VSB, Attn: HSI Program, 3550 Aberdeen Ave SE, Kirtland AFB, NM 87117-5776. Written and e-mailed responses are acceptable. Only unclassified responses can be sent via e-mail. The e-mail address for this topic is Thomas.Cooley@kirtland.af.mil. Contact Thomas Cooley at (505) 856-2986 for methods to transmit classified response. Qualified participants are invited to request the classified goal document from the above address/email. An approved classified storage facility and proof of personnel clearances are essential to obtain the goal document. The response can be in the form of white papers or presentations. This industry survey does not obligate the government in any manner for any future acquisitions. This is not a notice of intent to contract. The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request for information or otherwise pay for information solicited. Participants are invited to submit their interests and capability in writing. Only detailed written responses, received within fourteen (14) days after the publication of this announcement will be reviewed. Information received will be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether or not to pursue future development efforts based on responses to this notice.
