Description
LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS TO LICENSE THE TECHNOLOGY FOR HOLLOW LENSING DUCTS Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), wants to license the technology to build Hollow Lensing Ducts. Researchers at LLNL have developed a Hollow Lensing Duct which is especially useful for coupling pump light from laser diodes arrays into solid state laser amplifiers, such as doped rods, slabs, or fibers. The Hollow Lensing Duct condenses and intensifies light by focusing the light with a spherical or cylindrical lens followed by reflective waveguiding. The Hollow Lensing Duct tapers down from a wide input side to a narrow output side, with the input side consisting of a lens that may be coated with an antireflective coating for more efficient transmission into the duct. The inside surfaces of the hollow lens duct are appropriately coated to be reflective, preventing light from escaping by reflection as it travels along the duct (reflective waveguiding). The hollow duct has various applications for intensifying light, such as in the coupling of diode array pump light to solid state lasing materials. This technology is covered in U.S. Patent #6,160,934. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's Hollow Lensing Duct should provide a written statement of interest, which includes the following: 1. Company Name and address. 2. The name, address, and telephone number of a point of contact. 3. A description of corporate expertise and facilities relevant to commercializing this technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: 83-04 Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's Hollow Lensing Duct.
