Description
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) Collaborator to work with NINDS in the development, manufacture and commercialization of octanol to treat essential tremors. Essential tremor is a very common neurologic movement disorder, and while some therapies are available, better therapies are needed. NINDS is seeking a development and commercialization partner for cGMP production and in vivo testing of octanol Potential Areas of Application ?Treatment of essential tremors ?Treatment of other alcohol responsive movement disorders including; myoclonic dystonia, post hypoxic myoclonus, and essential myoclonus Main Advantages of Technology/Invention: ?Effective at relatively low doses and is well tolerated Current State of Development ?Preliminary Clinical studies indicate that octanol is effective in treating Essential Tremor ?Results published in Shill et al. Neurology 62:2320, 2004 and Bushara et al. Neurology 62:122, 2004. Further R&D Required: ?Optimize formulation of octanol ?Conduct preliminary pharmokinetics studies ?Conduct further additional Phase I trials in humans with optimized formulation Patent Status: ?No Background Patents Submission Dates: ?Letter of interest should be received by Oct 21, 2004.
