- The Navy requires AN/SSQ-101 sonobuoys, whose primary purpose is to detect acoustic emissions or reflections from potentially hostile submarines and transmit these signals to U.S. Navy airborne antisubmarine warfare forces. Stepladder quantities of 2,500, 3,000, and 3,500 will be solicited on a sole source basis from ERAPSCO, a joint venture between USSI, Inc., Cambridge City, IN and Sparton Electronics, De Leon, FL, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-3(a)(2)(i), ?industrial mobilization.? The sonobuoys shall be manufactured in accordance with a Production Sonobuoy Specification, and the offeror must be a qualified manufacturer prior to contract award. This announcement is being issued for possible subcontracting opportunities. Numbered Notes 13 and 26 apply. Lot sizes will be determined at time of award, with the first lot to be delivered no later than 365 days after contract award and the last lot to be delivered no later than 730 days! after contract award. Delivery will be F.o.B. origin with destinations determined at time of lot acceptance. The solicitation will be posted on the NSWC Crane website at www.crane.navy.mil; no hard copies of the solicitation will be mailed. The solicitation is expected to be posted on or about 1 November 2004. All responsible sources may submit an offer that will be considered.
