Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to acquire mainframe hardware, required to meet the SSA?s disaster recovery needs, from Computer Network Technology (CNT). The SSA will pursue acquiring UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extenders. The UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extender is a high-speed, multi-protocol gateway platform that interconnects and extends ESCON/FICON-based host-to-host, host-to-peripheral, host-to-storage, and storage-to-storage systems across the enterprise, regardless of distance, to create a high capacity, high performance enterprise storage network using high-speed interfaces. The UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extender works at the core of enterprise network infrastructures, integrating channel and network technologies to enable flexible, high performance extension of ESCON/FICON environments across metropolitan and wide-area distances. The UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extender connects and extends mainframe and open systems storage-related data replication applications for both disk and tape, along with remote channel networking for a wide range of device types for the data center. The UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extenders are capable of operating in 31-bit mode and 64-bit mode, and are capable of interfacing with OS/390 and z/OS operating systems. The Agency?s operating system is z/OS, and the UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extenders support z/OS Architecture. CNT is the only source known with a product capable of meeting these requirements. Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing an equivalent product must respond, in writing, within 15 days of this notice. Responses must be specific as to the alternate product proposed and must include detailed specifications to support claims of equivalency to the CNT UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X). Vendors may submit pricing data. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. The Government will not award a contract based on responses received; however, SSA will us this information to assess capable sources. SSA will not provide acknowledgement of responses received. SSA shall issue a delivery order against vendors of CNT UltraNet Storage Director-eXtended (USD-X) channel extenders through a GSA schedule contract if the agency receives no acceptable responses. Responses must be addressed to the following office: Social Security Administration Office of Acquisition and Grants Attention: Joan M. Smith 6401 Security Boulevard Room 2-G-2, East Low Rise Building Baltimore, Maryland 21235 Responses should refer to Synopsis Number SSA-JS-092704.
