Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center(NSWCIH), Indian Head, MD. intends to award a Sole Source Purchase Order to Viscotek Corporation for a Gel-Permeation Chromatography(GPC) System. The GPC/SEC system is an instrument used for the determination of absolute molecular weight, molecular size, intrinsic viscosity, conformation, aggregation, and degree of branching. The GPC is configured with a tetra detector array composed of a four capillary differential viscometer and evaporative light scattering detector in conjunction with RI and UV for direct measurement of intrinsic viscosity, molecular density, and molecular weight. This tetra detection technology includes pumps, auto or manual injectors, integrated chromatography systems, and automated sample preparation capabilities. Tetra Detection is unique only to Viscotek Systems, and sets the standard for characterizing natural and synthetic polymers and proteins. The GPC system will be used by NAVSEA for acceptance testing of ! new materials and aging programs to monitor breakdown of binders manifested by physical property changes. The GPC will also provide lower costs (less time to run each sample), virtually no maintenance costs and allow greater flexibility in the types of materials that NAVSEA will be able to analyze. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is 339111 with a size standard of 500 employees.. The FSC code is 6640. Approximate issue date of this Purchase Order is 29 October 2004. For information regarding this synopsis, you may contact Willy B. Quiambao who can be reached at (301) 744-6789 or email quiambaowb@ih.navy.mil. This solicitation is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FPO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronics Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO ! is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command.
