Description
The Social Security Administration is seeking a software product or combination of software products for the use with its Electronic Disability (eDib) initiative. The following are the requirements for this software: Run as a true multithreaded, scalable server product, dedicated to automated file conversion. Convert a variety of file formats to TIFF format. The file types must include: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, WordPerfect files, Text files, BMP files, JPEG files, HTML files, Postscript files, and Adobe PDF files. Minimally, the software should be able to produce multi-page TIFF using CCITT Group 4 compression, 200x200 dpi format (i.e. fax) in addition to any other TIFF compression/dpi supported. The most desirable software should run on the IBM z/OS operation system. However, it is still acceptable if the software runs on the Sun Solaris server. Have a callable API which can be addressed at least from the J2EE web applications. The product should also provided configurable source, target and error directories for batch conversion of files. There should be a configurable source-directory scan timer. The conversion software should not require the presence of native applications. The software should provide error handling and recovery processes. Exceptions should be written to a log and optionally trigger an email. Ideally, the order of processing (by file type) should be configurable. Produce reports on files being converted. The file conversion vendor provides 24x7 customer support. Software must be compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Cost or pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposals (RFP) and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA’s assessment of capable sources. Responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate within 15 days of this publication. Refer to eDib. Email documents are acceptable. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (18-OCT-2004); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
