- NAICS Code: 54199 The National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) of the Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seeks an individual, at least 18 years of age who is either a first year graduate student or recent graduate (graduated with a degree from a college or university within the past two years) to provide services under a contractual agreement to assist with public affairs with the EPA organization located in Cincinnati. The Public Affairs Office is responsible for coordinating internal and external communication within and outside NRMRL, ORD and EPA. Duties of the office include congressional relations, media and special public events. The student may be asked to assist with event preparation, writing, maintain Bacon's newswire, actively research media outlets, create new communications tools and help with reporting to the various offices. The graduate student/recent graduate shall possess a bachelor's degree in communication., public relations, public administration, or a related field, and possess superior communications skills, both oral and written. This work is to begin approximately towards the end of November or early December 2004 for an initial period of 12 months, with an option to extend for another 12 months. The duty location is in Cincinnati, OH at the Andrew W. Breidenbach Research Center. Work duties will normally be in an office setting. Occasionally, travel may be necessary. Compensation is commensurate with the level of education and experience, as follows: $14.28/hour for students who have completed a BA/BS degree. This rate includes cost of self-employment taxes for Social Security and Medicare. Non-U.S. citizens may be eligible to participate, depending on their immigration status and the applicable regulations of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service (BCIS)(formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service).
