- Description
- US or foreign-flag self-sustaining RO/RO or combination RO/RO-LO/LO vessel capable of transporting below deck the following cargo types: helicopters, equipment crates, and assorted vehicles. The cargo includes TEUs that are not required to be carried below deck. The total area of the cargo is 15,670 sq. ft., the total weight is 857 short tons, applicable HAZMAT classes are 1.1E, 1.1F, 1.2E, 1.3G, 1.4F, 1.4S, and 2, and the NEW is 35,834 lbs. The vessel is required to maintain a minimum average laden speed of 15 knots in moderate weather. A packing list is available upon request. In accordance with the Cargo Preference Act of 1904 and Section IIIA.3 of the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) (see 69 FEDERAL REGISTER 25166-25168, May 5, 2004), preference will be given to U.S. flag vessels and VISA participants. Under the Cargo Preference Act of 1904, any reflagging or repair work to: (1) enable the vessel to meet applicable standards to become a vessel of the United States; or (2) to convert the vessel to a more militarily useful configuration; must be performed in the United States.
