Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a purchase order to Sterling Commerce (MID America) LLL, located in Dublin, OH. The purchase order is for the purpose of renewing the perpetual license for use, support and maintenance of the software product Connect Direct. This product provides disk space management and mainframe to mainframe bulk data transfer capabilities. Sterling Commerce, Inc, is the owner of this software product and controls the copyrights, patents, technical data, and other proprietary information regarding this product and given the mission dependence on advance system resource management software at CDC and the existing investment in both time and money in these software licenses, Sterling Commerce is the only vendor capable of providing the needed support and maintenance. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR part 6.302-1. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 5 days from the publication date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
