Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Radiation Oncology Branch (ROB) plans to procure on a sole source basis an EndoScout Tracking System for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with Robin Medical, Inc., P.O. Box 2414, Baltimore, Maryland 21203. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The ROB, NCI, has a clinic for the treatment of patients with cancer using linear accelerators, CT (Computed Tomography) scans and MRI. The treatments include localized and total body exposure to radiation. The EndoScout is the only FDA approved tracking system, known by the NCI that can be used on closed bore MRI, similar to the systems currently being used at the Clinical Center. The other tracking systems that are available are either optical (which can only be used with open scanners), or electromagnetic that cannot be used inside the bore of the scanner. The EndoScout technology has FDA clearance for use under MRI for guidance of surgical interventions. The EndoScout provides in real-time the position of the device during MR scanning. This enables the users to guide an interventional procedure to target inside the body. Robin Medical Inc. is the only source known to the NCI. Robin Medical is the owner of this technology, and is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this system. The EndoScout technology is protected by US Patent 6,516,213. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can perform the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform this requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 pm EST, on January 27, 2005. If you have any questions, please contact Malinda Holdcraft, Purchasing Agent via fax at 301-402-4513 or via electronic mail holdcram@exchange.nih.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
