Description
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract on a Sole Source basis to Wind River Systems, 500 Wind River Way, Alameda, CA 94501 for the following: VxWorks 5.5.1 OEM License MPC74xx, 1 each; Support and Maintenance for the VxWorks, 1 each; Tornado 2.2.1 Standard Software, 2 each; Support and Maintenance for Tornado, 2 each, Tornado 2.2.1 Professional, 1 each; Support and Maintenance for Tornado Professional, 1 each. The Government intends to issue a request for written quote to Wind River Systems using FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. The anticipated award date is 2005 Feb 04. This action is being processed on a Sole Source basis due to the fact that Wind River Systems is the exclusive distributor and developer of the VxWorks toolset. VxWorks is the only compatible product that can be used effectively to replace the discontinued VSPWorks operating system. Since VxWorks is currently being utilized to support the tactical data processor board, transitioning to VxWorks will reduce the technical risks and shorten the learning curve required to support a new toolset. VxWorks meets the high performance requirements of the new torpedo signal processor and is totally compatible with existing torpedo requirements. This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form. Instead, they may be accessed at our web site http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. We also provide electronic access in our Bid Room.
