Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7 (Alaska) intends to award a sole source procurement to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to conduct a big game survey targeting local harvests of moose, caribou, black and brown bear, and wolves. The survey will be conducted in the Central Kuskokwim area, including Aniak, Chuathbaluk, Crooked Creek, Kalskag, Lime Village, Sleetmute, Red Devil, and Stony River, Alaska. The study will target local harvests of big game species, jurisdiction of harvest as to State or Federal lands, and assess individual hunter effort. The information collected is essential for an intensive management planning effort currently being pursued by local groups, State, and Federal agencies. The division of Subsistence will hire and train community-based research assistants, oversee data collection efforts, analyze the data, and produce a written report detailing the project findings. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, and the Government does not intend to accept proposals received. Award will be made 15 days after publication of this notice. See numbered note 22.
