Description
The US Army Program Manager, Aviation Electronic Systems is looking for a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) system for training aviation crews to respond to small shoulder fired IR surface to air threats. The trainer should be self-contained and portab le, while still providing effective realistic training. The system should have the capability to stimulate the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System, AN/AAR-54 Passive Missile Approach Warning System, and AN/AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System. The tr aining system should have a target acquisition capability that is equivalent to Man-Portable Air Defense System squads using binoculars, night vision goggles, or other tracking device. This training system must have a high degree of accuracy. Range to tar get information as well as visual imaging is required to be recorded on an after action review system for verification and validation. The system should demonstrate a high degree of effectiveness to stimulate the IR ASE equipped aircraft with a relatively high confidence level. The system will have the capability to stimulate the aircraft IR ASE systems at ranges up to 5 km. Interested parties should submit the following: proposed approach, advantages, disadvantages, training requirements for users, abili ty for the Government to maintain item, timeline for training system delivery, Estimated training system ROM cost and information about existing defense simulator/trainer efforts or comparable commercial experience as well as information concerning histori cal operation and maintenance costs for similar training system(s). The Government is only seeking information for future needs. No solicitati on document exists at this time. The Government will not reimburse any costs incurred by interested companies responding to this announcement. All information marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-government pe rsonnel and entities.
