Description

The USDA Forest Service is offering the reconstruction of Forest Road 172 on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northcentral Wisconsin. FR172 is located in the towns of Winter, Draper, and Chippewa. The estimated price range is between $100,000 and $250,000. Bonding is required. The intent of the contract is to bring the road up to the desired operational level. Lifts will be added in stretches to cover the corduroy existing in the road core. Large rocks will be removed through non-corduroy areas. This will allow for maintenance and general ease of traffic movement. The majority of the culverts are 20 years old or better and are in need of replacement. Silt fence and seeding will be used to prevent erosion and promote revegetation. The riding surface has minimal crushed aggregate, therefore the surface will be completed renovated. The solicitation will be a full and open competition Request for Proposal including technical evaluation criteria resulting in a best value award. The contract time will be 120 days with work expected to begin in mid-June of 2005. ORCA certification is required.
