Description
Description: This announcement is a Request for Information and is not an Invitation to Bid nor a Request for Proposals. There is currently no funding for this effort. The Army has an urgent requirement to field 1,109 remote viewers for the AN/PAS- 13 thermal sights (TWS) for light, medium and heavy weapons. The remote viewer requirement is also included in the TWS Operational Requirements Document as a preplanned product improvement. The system may also be used for the follow-on TWS II program wit h appropriate adapter cables. PM Sensors and Lasers requests interested parties submit their company name, address, phone number and point of contact, accompanied by product literature and information on their product to the address below.System Descripti on:The system must be a lightweight VGA or higher resolution 640 x 480 pixel minimum display. The system must be capable of displaying RS-170 video from the TWS. The system will be delivered mounted to currently deployed (ESS or equivalent) goggles (pref erred) or with a bracket to mount to the current US Army-issued helmet. It is preferred that the device not use the AN/PVS 14 night vision monocular helmet mount due to vision restriction. General requirements for the display system include: light weigh t; small in size; minimal vision obstruction; some degree of ruggedization. System is to have a quick disconnect or breakaway connection near the helmet/goggle; has a breakaway connection near any battery/control box; employ a flexible (preferred coiled) cable to connect the display to the power source and controller if any, and to the TWS; cabling and strain relief must be ruggedized to some degree; The order of preference for power source is AA, CR123 batteries, or other battery listed on the CECOM LRC P ower Sources website, in lieu of a proprietary battery. The degree of light-security is a consideration but not a critical factor. Currently, a cabled solution is preferred but a wireless solution is also of interest. The system must be available for ne ar-term procurement, and, except for bracketry, must not be a developmental item. The system should be housed in a lightweight case for storage of the device when not in use.Quantity and delivery schedule will be determined upon receipt of funding. The c urrent requirement is for 1,109 systems but could be expanded to several thousand units if adapter cables can be provided to other TWS II systems. Additional items could be procured for total Army-wide fielding for the more than 15,000 Raytheon TWS curren tly deployed and additional thermal sights from other manufacturers.CONTACT: Ian Littlejohn, 703-704-1671, Acquisition Specialist, or Dan Kitts, 703-704-1292, Thermal Sight DirectorRESPONSES: Send your contact and product information to PM Sensors and Lasers, ATTN: Ian Littlejohn, 10170 Beach Rd, Bldg 325, Ft Belvoir, VA 22060.
