- SUBJECT: QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS TO SOLICITATION FSIS-07-B-05 --The following are the questions and the answer to those questions that our office received regarding the Housing for Student Interns, Solicitation Number FSIS-07-B-05. QUESTION 1: What is the approximate number of students that will need housing during the contract period? Answer: Approximately 25 students. The breakdown of males to females is unknown at this time. QUESTION 2: Who is the incumbent contractor or previous provider of housing for students? Answer: This is the first contract for Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS); however previously, we used housing issued by another agency which used Rock Creek Management as their vendor for 2003 and 2004. QUESTION 3: What is the address that the students will travel to for their internship? Answer: The following are the four addresses the students will travel to for the internship: 1400 Independence Ave, SW, Washington, DC; 1255 22nd Street, NW, (West End Court) Washington, DC; 901 D Street, SW, (Aerospace) Washington, DC; and 5601 Sunnyside Avenue, Beltsville, MD. QUESTION 4: What specific locations have the interns resided at in the past? Answer: In the past students resided in Washington, DC and Silver Spring, MD. QUESTION 5: Is this a multi-year contract? Answer: No. The government intends to award this contract as a firm-fixed price Blanket Purchase Agreement. The period of performance is from May 15, 2005 to August 31, 2005. QUESTION 6: Would it be possible to get the address of the FSIS facility the summer students will be attending? We want to ensure the metro ride is not excessive. Answer: See the answer to Question 3. QUESTION 7: Can you please confirm the work address for the student interns in need of housing? Also, is internet or maid service required? Answer: See the answer to Question 3. Internet and maid service is not required. QUESTION 8: Can I use private industry as a referral? Answer: Yes. QUESTION 9: Can I use other contracts that we have currently and in the past that doesn’t have a contract number? Answer: Yes, as long as you state there was no contract number assigned to your contract. QUESTION 10: If a property has the built-in sprinklers and hard-wired smoke alarms, but is not listed on the U.S. Fire Administration site; can that property be used for this solicitation? Answer: No. As stated in the solicitation, the contractor shall provide a facility that meets the requirements of Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-391) and the lodging facility shall be listed on the U.S. Fire Administration’s Master Hotel-Model List.
