Description
NAICS Code: 541710 The Gulf Ecology Division (GED) of the National Health and Environmental Research Laboratory (NHEERL), Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Gulf Breeze, Florida, is seeking a recent graduate with a B.S. degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or closely related field to provide services under a contractual agreement. The student contractor will assist in applying real-time, rapid-cycle PCR for detecting and quantifying nucleic acids from suitable indicators, both bacterial and viral, which may be of interest in the development of guidelines for sanitary quality and assessment of ecological condition of near-coastal waters. Work will be primarily performed in a laboratory but some field work will be required. The period of performance will begin approximately May 15, 2005 and end approximately May 14, 2006 with an option for an additional 12 months period of performance through May 14, 2007. The optional period of performance will be exercised at the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the contractor will work an average of 40 hours per week. The majority of the work will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; some week-end and holiday work should be expected.
