Description: The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District is looking for a contractor that shall furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to rehabilitate heat exchangers that are used to cool hydroelectric turbine generators, and to rehabilitate heat exchangers, which are used to cool thrust-bearing oil in hydroelectric turbine generators at The Dalles, Oregon. For the Generator Air Coolers: River water runs through the tubes while air passes around the outside. Each cooler is constructed of a fr ame supporting 116 finned tubes with a supply/discharge manifold on one end and a return header on the other end. Manufacturers information tag reads; GE AIR COOLER, cat # 159l292 G1, type SF-1538-8, form K, OP 1017 T75P. For the Thrust Bearing Oil Coole rs: River water runs through the tubes, which are immersed in a bath of oil. Each cooler is comprised of two semi-circular halves. Each half is constructed of a frame supporting 48 finned tubes with a supply/discharge manifold on one end and a return he ader on the other end.
