- The Corpus Christi Army Depot has a required for a rotary surface grinder, one each. FOB Destination Corpus Christi, TX. Email request for copy of RFQ to cevans@ccad.army.mil. Specification is as follows: COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION Vertical Spindle Rotary Surface Grinder 1.0 SCOPE 1.1 Scope: Vertical Spindle Rotary Surface Grinder CNC/Manual operated. This description establishes minimum and general requirements for the procurement, design, and installation, testing and delivering of all hardware, documentation and support material necessary to comprise a complete Rotary Surface Grinder Machine. The equipment supplied shall conform to the requirements as specified herein. The Rotary Grinder shall be configured to permit installation and operation of the unit at the government instal lation (Corpus Christi Army Depot) (CCAD). The machine shall be new and one of the manufactures current models. 2.0 REQUIREMENTS 2.1 The system shall be constructed of new materials compatible with an Electrical Discharge Machine. Materials not specifically specified herein but are required to make the equipment fully operational shall be selected by the manufacturer and shall be o f standard commercial quality. It shall not be permissible to use reclaimed parts as is, or rebuilt from scrap or other used equipment. If dissimilar metals are used in intimate contact, suitable protection against galvanic corrosion shall be applied, su ch as proper electrical insulation of the joints or by excluding electrolyte if this is feasible. Equipment shall meet all OSHA requirements and all components shall be free of asbestos. Noise level shall not exceed 80 dab. 2.2 Any components, which are standard commercial equipment and control system components, and are not manufactured by the offeror, but were purchased from other commercial sources, shall be identified in the parts lists. The parts identification shall in clude the supplier, brand name and part identification number or otherwise suitably identified to facilitate purchase by the government when such component requires replacement. 2.3 All parts shall be manufactured to definite standards for tolerance, clearance, and finish to permit replacement or adjustment without modifications of parts. 2.4 Equipment shall be free from defects such as fractures, slits, punctures, tears, cracks, creases, deterioration, or malformation. Should such defect occur, the manufacturer shall replace the part or components in question with a new part. There shall be no sharp edges, slivers, burrs, projections, or other defects. Workmanship of the manufacturers commercial equipment shall be of the type specified herein. 2.5 All major assemblies and installed attachments shall be accessible for maintenance, inspection, and repair utilizing common tools. The inspection, adjustment, repair, and replacement of components and accessories shall be accomplished with minimum requ irements and minimum disturbance to other components and accessories of the system. 2.6 All machine components that are subject to deterioration upon exposure to climatic and environmental conditions during use shall be given protective treatment that shall not hinder the performance of the machine as specified herein. 2.7 Means shall be provided to insure adequate lubrication for all moving parts. All oil holes, grease fittings, and filler caps shall be easily accessible and labeled clearly. 2.8 A corrosion resistance metal nameplate shall be securely attached to the machine. The nameplate shall contain the following information. · Nomenclature · Manufacturers Name · Manufacturers Model Designation · Manufacturers Serial Number · Power Input Characteristics and Ratings · Rated AC Output-Volts · Rated AC Output Current (amperes) · Date of Manufacture 2.9 The Rotary Grinding system parts subject to wear breakage, or distortion and all parts that require periodic lubrication or perio dic maintenance shall be assessable for adjustment, replacement, and lubrication as applicable. Maximum accessibility shall be provided (within space limitations) to parts, which require scheduled maintenance. The configuration of the system shall be suc h that removal of operational parts shall not be necessary for maintenance inspection and repair. 2.10 The U.S. Customary System of Units (US) shall be used in the design and construction of the Rotary Grinder. 2.11 All castings and forging shall be free from defects such as scale and mismatching. In no event shall such processes as welding, peening, plugging, or filing with solders or pastes to be used on castings or forging to reclaim any defective parts for u se on the Rotary Grinder. 2.12 Welding, brazing or soldering shall be employed only where these operations are required in the original design. This operation shall not be employed as repair measures for defective parts. 2.13 All screws, pins, bolts, and similar fasteners shall be installed with means for preventing loss of tightness. Such fasteners subject to removal or adjustment shall not be swaged, peened, staked, or otherwise permanently deformed. 2.14 All surfaces of castings, forgings, molded parts, stampings and welded parts shall be cleaned and free from sand, dirt, fins, sprues, scale, flux, and other harmful or extraneous materials. External surfaces shall be smooth and all edges shall be eit her rounded or beveled unless sharpness is required to perform a necessary function. 2.15 Electrical components, including starters, motors, relay, switches, wiring, and control panels shall conform to the appropriate ratings. Speed and torque characteristics shall be adequate to properly operate the machine. There shall be no components used in any application where the manufacturers rating for the part does not meet or exceed requirements. 2.16 All words on instruction and indicating plates shall be in the English language. Characters shall be engraved, etched, embossed or stamped in boldface on a contrasting background. 2.17 Overall dimensions: These are critical dimensions; because of the space allow in the machine shop, overall dimensions shall be kept as such: length 3 feet deep by 5 feet wide, by 6 feet high. 2.18 Rotary Table: 18 feet diameter, magnetic, 3/8 inch concentric pole spacing, chuck load 300 pounds 2.19 Equipment shall be equipped with Air Mist Collector 2.20 Five (5) horse power spindle electric motor, ¾ hp rotary table motor, ½ hp powered head servo motor. 2.21 Accuracy and repeatability: .0001 inch 2.22 Variable Speed Grinding Spindle, Variable speed 1800 - 5400 rpm. 2.23 Twenty (20) gallon per minute coolant pump. 2.24 Equipment shall be able to operate with type 6 or type 11 cup grinding wheels in aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and ceramic, 3 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch. Cup wheel and 2A2T CBN and diamond wheels, 6 inch and 8 inch. Table mount wheel dresse r. Maximum distance from wheel to table shall be 7 inch. 2.25 Equipment shall be fully enclosed 2.26 Collection System: 600 CFM air mist/dust collection system, coolant filtration / swarf removal system 2.27 Internal and external grinding wheel coolant flow 2.28 Electrical requirements: 480, 60 hz, 20 amps at full load, equipped with trans former, 30 KVA at full load. 2.21 Controller: The equipment shall be equipped with a user friendly controller both manual and CNC (auto mode, manual mode) operated. The controller shall be capable of programmable spindle speed, feed rates, spark out time, chuck speed, motor load and coolant control. Monitor shall simultaneous display of all grinding parameters. Controller shall have plain text keyboard entry with capacity for saving 900 plus programs. The manual feed hand wheel shall be integrated with the closed loop spindle pos itioning system, and have several selectable feed rates. The speeds and feeds shall automati cally transition from rough to finish grinding at a preset point during the grinding. The system shall be equipped with an automatic wheel dressing. The automatic dresser and controller shall be able to keep a running data file as to wheel size while the wheel is being dress and with internal processing it shall virtually know the finish size has to be changed through some internal math computations to achieve a specified diameter that was predetermined by the operator during the start of the machine oper ation. The controller shall have features/displays such as: Buffer memory list, specifies input mode, number of times of averaging, channel data, disables setting change, initialize functions, sets convenient functions, specifies high-speed conversion ch annel, upper/lower limit value error status, A/D data sudden change detection status, scale over status, error status, model code, operating time, offset data, gain data, addition data lower limit (error set value), upper limit (error set value), sudden ch ange detection set value, data history sampling time, and resets or stops data history. 22.33 Governments responsibility: The government will unload equipment, uncrate equipment and set equipment in place at installation site. The government will electrically hook up the equipment, but will not turn equipment on. 2.34 Contractors responsibility: The contractor is responsible for leveling equipment, provide initial fluids to charge machine for performance testing, assembling the major components of the system, arranging the equipment on the site, contractor will st artup equipment and make equipment operational and acceptance testing of the equipment. All service work on the EDM and training shall be performed at CCAD during the normal working hours of 6:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. 2.35 Training: Contractor will conduct operating on site training. The training will consist of four CCAD operators. 2.37 Data Requirements: Required technical data, such as 3 sets of operators manuals, two sets of maintenance manuals, one set parts list one set of wiring diagrams. Also, any technical data furnished shall pertain to the machine as built, and any modifi cations or updates shall be noted and detailed to the requirements above prior to delivery. 2.38 Warranty: The equipment furnished under these specifications shall be guaranteed for a period of time equal to the manufacturers standard commercial warranty, or for a period of one (1) year, which ever is longer, against defective materials, parts, design, and workmanship. Warranty will start after acceptance by the Corpus Christi Army Depot. 2.39 Technical Plan. The contractor shall submit in writing, as part of their offer, a technical plan addressing each paragraph contained in the Commercial Item Description and how the offeror plans on meeting the requirement.
