- Description
- This is a modification to the synopsis entitled "NASA Exploration System of Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Pre-Solicitation Workshop", which was posted on March 17, 2005. TO WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS: We thank you for your ongoing participation in ESMD’s efforts to construct an approach to Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) in the Directorate and its Development Programs Division. In constructing this approach, ESMD has placed great emphasis on engagement and dialogue with industry as a means for refining its SE&I organization and strategy. During the last month, you have reviewed and responded to a Request for Information and a Statement of Objectives (SOO) for a Development Programs Division SE&I Contractor, and have joined us for an Industry Day in Washington, DC. During the week to come, you will join us in Nashville, Tennessee for a workshop where we will collaboratively examine a set of issues that have formative influence on the content and structure of the Request for Proposals for the Development Programs Division SE&I Contractor. Specifically, the workshop’s splinter sessions will examine: Constellation Associate Contractor (e.g. CEV Prime) Issues Organizational Conflict of Interest & Hardware Exclusion Issues Acquisition Process Issues Simulation-Based Acquisition (SBA) Implementation Systems Engineering & Integration Scope ESMD’s RFP formulation baseline schedule included a release of key plenary documentation to Industry prior to the workshop, including a Systems Engineering & Integration Implementation Plan, applicable Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), and a draft Statement of Work (SOW). ESMD has chosen to hold these documents for additional internal review prior to release to Industry, to provide Directorate and Agency executives with the opportunity to approve their preliminary content prior to release. During the course of the workshop, ESMD will discuss the general content of these documents with workshop participants to facilitate valuable exchange, in preparation for their review later in the Draft RFP process. Again, we thank you for your participation and future contributions, and look forward to engaging you in Nashville.
