Description
The purpose of this sources sought/market survey is to identify sources capable of performing de-link and re-link of M246 HEIT-SD Cartridges. The contractor shall de-link the Cartridges from M14A1/M14A2 Links provided by the Government; inspect and re-link the same cartridges in MK7 Links provided by the contractor, inspect and test the relinked cartridge belts, and repack the relinked cartridges as specified in the contract. A respondent to this market survey must have the facilities and skills req uired to begin deliveries within 30 days after contract award. The contractor must be capable of performing the following at a minimum: provide the MK7 links, replacement packaging as necessary, and thermal treatment of non-conforming cartridges; 100% vi sually inspect de-linked M246 cartridges for damage sustained prior to, or due to the de-linking operation (MIL-STD-651 provides visual inspection standards for 20MM ammunition); and establish a frequency for testing cartridges in MK7 linked belts for comp liance with the requirements of 3.2.2.3 and 3.2.2.4 of WS 22458 (Cage 53711). Interested U.S./Canadian firms shall provide a summary of their companys capabilities including organizations, name/address/point of contact identification, a description of facilities/equipment, experience in the production of MK7 Links and 20mm ammuniti on for the MK15 CIWS, inspection capability, personnel, past experience as a medium caliber ammunition producer or systems contractor, and whether the company is a large or small business. All responding sources must submit their responses no later than 2 8 June 2005 to HQ, US Army Field Support Command; ATTN: AMSFS-CCA-F (Rachel Phelps), 1 Rock Island Arsenal; Rock Island, IL 61299-6500. Responses can also be submitted by email to phelpsr@afsc.army.mil. This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The information you provide w ill only be utilized by AFSC in developing its acquisition approach for future requirements.
