Description

The project consists of maintenance dredging of the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) approach channel and turning basin to a required depth of 13 feet MLLW (NOS) with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. All work shall be performed by hydraulic dredge and pipeline method; however, due to environmental restrictions dredging cannot be performed until prior to October 1. The Contractor shall place the dredged material in the Government-furnished upland placement area with required pumping distances exceedi ng 10,000 feet. Including allowable overdepth dredging, the project involves dredging approximately 190,400 cubic yards of material. Additionally, the Contractor is informed the Government has applied for environmental permits for the scheduled work. The c ontract documents have been prepared in accordance with the agreements of consultation with the agencies and the anticipated final environmental permit requirements; however, the final environmental permits are not complete and will be added by amendment p rior to receiving bids. The construction duration will begin performance within 15 calendar days and complete all work within 60 calendar days of receipt of Notice To Proceed (NTP). The receipt date for bids is August 25, 2005 . THIS IS A SMALL BUSIN ESS SET-ASIDE PROCUREMENT. NAICS CODE 237990 applies to this procurement.
