Description
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to (University of California, Irvine, Irvine, CA) to co-sponsor the 16th International Conference on Solid State Ionics for the U.S. Department of Energy. The ???Event??? will be held in Baden Baden, Germany during the month of September 2005. The Solid State Ionics (SSI) conferences, held every two years, promotes international collaboration and cooperation and provides a forum for scientists and engineers to discuss fundamentals, innovations and applications in the field of ion transport in solids. The Distributed Generation Technology Program???s Mission is to ensure widespread deployment of clean, distributed fuel cells, hybrids, and novel generation technology. This Conference is held to discuss the latest state of the art solid state ionic technologies such as fuel cells, batteries, gas separation membranes, sensors and related devices. Emphasis will be on the discussion of developing efficient and environmentally friendly energy conversion technologies. Providing funds for this conference enables the International Society of Solid State Ionics to hold this workshop and thus promote the future technology in the Solid State Ionic arena. This request is considered to be sole source to the International Society of Solid State Ionics at the University of California at Irvine because it is holding a unique bi-annual international conference that will bring together, state-of-the-art solid state ionic technology from all over the globe. It is important that we continue to support and are a part of the workshop so that we can strategically plan our future research. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates the firm???s ability to provide the services, as described above. Offers must be received by close of business August 24, 2005. This request is considered to be sole-source, therefore, no solicitation will result for this announcement. This award shall be made using FAR 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
