- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Central region, Branch of Regional Research, Water Resources Discipline has a requirement for a 500MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) System, with magnet bore diameter of 51mm, should have the capability to perform Variable Temperature (VT) liquid state NMR experiments on a 10mm broadband probe and 5 mm pulsed field gradient indirect detection probe for nuclei in the range of frequencies between 15N and 31P. The spectrometer should perform current pulse sequences on natural organic matter samples from soil, sediment, and aquatic environments, including the one dimensional DEPTGL and ACOUSTIC sequences, and the two dimensional gHMQC, gHMBC, gHSQC, and DOSY sequences. The spectrometer should be able to reproduce 13C NMR spectra on standard and reference samples of the International Humic Substances Society previously recorded on a 300 MHz liquid state instrument. The NMR system should have the capability to perform Variable Temperature (VT) solid state NMR double resonance experiments using a 6 mm rotor, including 27A1, 29Si, 15N, 31P, and 13C. Pulse sequence capabilities should include cross polarization, direct polarization, and two dimensional HETCOR. The spectrometer workstation should have the capability of processing NMR data previously acquired on VARIAN XL300, GEMINI 2300, and Chemagnetics CMX200 spectrometers using VNMR and Spin-sight software. Installation should include 5 days of on-sight training and two weeks of off-sight training. The aforementioned requirement is considered a "Brand Name or Equal" product manufactured by Varian NMR Systems, 3120 Hansen Way, M/S D300, Palo Alto, CA 94304-1030. A written formal response to the RFQ is required due to the evaluation factors contained in the soliciation. No fax, e-mail or electronic responses will be accepted. No e-mail or phone requests for copies of the solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation is only available at http://ideasec.usgs.gov. The solicitation will be available on or about August 22, 2005. The point of contact for the requirement is Alexandria (Sandie) Williamson and can be contacted at 303-236-9337 or e-mail at slwillia@usgs.gov. See numbered note 12. Also, the award of this requirement shall be made using only the procedures found in Part 13.1 - "Procedures" of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
