- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for a Digital Microscope with the following specifications: I. The instrument shall have a computer (with a mouse) for operation with an attached (similar to a lap top) 15in. Color LCD (TFT) or equivalent monitor with 1600 (H) x 1200 (V) (UXGA) pixels. Capable of: insitu observations, image designation & recording, filing & storage, software for 1 screen or 2 or 4 split screens that can be different magnification, a wide-range view that adjusts for excessive dark and bright areas of an image, halation elimination, area and linear measurements. The computer (with monitor) unit shall weigh =< 13kg, be 400 (W) x 130 (H) x 385 (D) mm, be portable, easily transportable and highly versatile so that it can be easily moved in and around various test apparatus, associated hardware and confined spaces found in test and lab environments. II. The instrument shall have software that is capable of: 3-D imagery that enables image composition of difficult and irregular targets, attended or unattended and extended time laps recording, accurate and automated dimensional measurements that include distance, radius, center distance, and X-Y distance of a targeted image, an auto edge selection function and auto calibration using a glass scale for visual measurement verification. III. It shall have CD-R/RW drive, with interface ability for a mouse, keyboard and contact switch for no hands or remote recording and utilizing: RJ-45 (100-base TX) LAN port, USB2.0 series A & B ports and an Analog RGB (1600 x 1200 pixels) output port. These make it capable of linking with multiple: PCs, monitors, printers, other devises and to accept a foot switch for no hands recording/operation. IV. It shall utilize a small, torpedo type camera capable of fixed imagery on a bench or table top using a mounting stand with an XY stage and for hand held applications with imaging technology to correct for camera shakiness during hand held recording. The camera shall be connected directly to the computer unit, the cable shall have a minimum length of 11/2 meters. The camera shall accept various lenses capable of zooming from 0x (1x) to at least 5000x and be capable of attaching an (optional) borescope and/or fiberscope. Lighting shall be built in so the unit will not require external or additional lighting. V. The instrument shall incorporate a multi-view system XY & Theta stand/stage (separate from the mounting stand in No. 4 above) for bench or table top use that is capable of observing the same target or point while tilting the camera/lens from 0o vertical down to 90o (max) horizontal and simultaneously rotating 360o all around a target image, allowing for numerous angled, rotated and enhanced 3-D images that are not inversely projected. The digital microscope system shall have, be capable of and meet or exceed the following specifications: a. An 18 million pixel camera providing digital images with a 20 x depth of field greater than conventional microscopes. The camera combines with the software to compose sharp non blurred images capable of correcting for edge deviations. Resolution: 2 million pixels = 1600 (H) x 1200 (V) approx. 1000 TV lines, 4 million pixels = 1600 (H) x 1200 (V) approx. 1200 TV lines, 8 million pixels = 3200 (H) x 2400 (V) approx. 1600 TV lines, 18 million pixels = 4800 (H) x 3600 (V) approx. 2000 TV lines. Gain has: auto, normal, and manual. Electronic shutter has: auto, manual, and off with 9 timed settings starting at 1/15, 1/30, 1/120 and incrementally going up to 1/5000, supercharged shutter can be set from 0.2 sec. to 17 sec. with increments of 0.1 sec. White balance has: auto, manual and one-push set, preset (2700K, 3200K, 5600K, 9000K). b. Pentium 4, approx. 2.8Ghz, 1 Gb memory with a minimum of 40 GB built in hard disk capable of high speed processing that can store 200,000 image files (compressed to 2 million pixels) approx 6667 images (when not compressed). Image format of JPEG (with compression) TIFF (no compression). c. A CD-R/RW drive (preferred) with 24x write speed as the recording and backup medium with 700 MB storage capable of storing approx. 3500 image (when a 2 million pixel image is compressed) to approx. 117 images (when a 2 million pixel image is not compressed). The system shall have the following (OPTIONAL) capabilities and specifications: 1) A borescope capable of at least 70o oblique viewing with a 55o view angle, lighted, 304mm in length and 6mm dia. 2) Shall have various lenses that zoom up to at least 5000x with typical or equivalent lens ranges of: 0x (1x) to 40x, 25x to 175x, 100x to 1000x, 500x to 5000x. 3) It shall be able to do 3-D profile measurements by utilizing the computer, camera and a mounting stand as in No. 4 above. Special software is required to program and control a motorized linear stage. Additional software performs the measurements, with digital and auto focus functions, it shall automatically take 3-D images generated from 2-D cross sections and measure the height and width of projections and depressions and display this on the monitor as an XY graph with parallel lines. Be able to measure height between two windows/points, take 3-D images and convert them to a color scale mapping the higher elevations in red and lower in blue, this is displayed on top of the raw image for an enhanced topographical view, for measurement a scale for the X, Y, and Z axis is automatically calculated and displayed on the border/perimeter and aligned with the image according to the image size and rotational position. 4) A fiberscope (not part of this purchase but proposed system shall be capable of utilizing one) with the following specifications: not less than a 55o view angle, and at least 1000 mm in length. Note: For consideration: all proposed systems shall meet all the functional requirements described in this document. They shall provide and include all of the following: system capabilities, all specifications, an itemized listing of all software and hardware needed to fulfill the requirements of the specified system. The total proposed cost shall include, all hardware and software, all standard adapters, special adapters, lens adapters, lens attachments, camera c-mounts, interface cables, power cables, training, shipping and handling if applicable or any other required options or items.
