Description
The Division of Cancer Control and Population Science, National Cancer Institute, plans to negotiate the award of four (4) non-competitive contracts with: (1) Louisana State University Health Sciences Center, (2) Public Health Institute, (3) University of Kentucky and (4) New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Serivces, RFP No. N01-PC-45025-40 for a period of five (5) years for the continuation of services of the SEER Program to collect and report on population-based cancer incidence, treatment and survival data. The SEER Program is the core component of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) surveillance activities which provide information used for planning cancer control and research programs, and for evaluating the impact of such programs on cancer rates. In accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) these contractors are the only responsible sources and no other sources will satisfy the agency's requirements. The SEER contractors have a statutory responsibility to collect and maintain tumor registries for their respective geographic areas. These contracts will add to a data resource for cancer surveillance that includes 30 years of population-based data on cancer incidence and patient survival, and beginning 2001 covers a quarter of the US population. These contractors have the prerequisite knowledge, experience and facilities for continued performance of this program. See numbered note 22.
