Description
The Library of Congress Motion Picture Broadcast and Recorded Sound Division has a mandate to preserve and maintain access to its audio collection materials. Items in the Library?s audio collections require preservation playback reformatting on highly sophisticated archival equipment while being simultaneously monitored by an acoustically trained audio engineer in a highly discriminating audio environment. Each format has unique challenges and technical issues requiring high volume level monitoring to insure the absence of all audio aberrations in the playback signal path. Due to the unique design of the NAVCC preservation suites and the custom designed speaker enclosures; the Library of Congress intends to purchase through a sole source from the manufacturer Crown, for Reference Amplifiers that are thought to be the only models acceptable which meet: (1) the Library's technical needs and (2) satisfy the Library?s time critical and preservation needs for providing access, digitization and preservation of audio program materials. Without this audio amplifier, audio cannot be accessed, digitized nor preserved in the Lab. This need is amplified by the scheduled relocation of the Recording Lab to the NAVCC in Culpeper, Virginia. Technical Specifications are as follows: REFERENCE 1: Power output: 800 watts into 8 ohms, 1,190 watts into 4 ohms (per channel, stereo mode); 2,375 watts into 8 ohms (bridge-mono mode). Input connections: Balanced 1/4" phone jacks on chassis and female XLR connectors on standard PIP module. Output connections: A pair of color-coded dual binding posts for each channel. Dimensions: 19" W x 7" H x 16" D (4 rack spaces). Net weight: 60.69 lbs. REFERENCE 2: Power output: 360 watts into 8 ohms, 565 watts into 4 ohms (per channel, stereo mode); 1,145 watts into 8 ohms (bridge-mono mode). Input connections: Balanced 1/4" phone jacks on chassis and female XLR connectors on standard PIP module. Output connections: A pair of color-coded dual binding posts for each channel. Dimensions: 19" W x 7" H x 16" D (4 rack spaces). Net weight: 56.13 lbs. Any other company/manufacturer that feels it is capable of and believes its Reference Amplifiers can meet all the above equipment performance requirements can apply to the Library for consideration. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. The Government must receive all such statements by close of business 12PM EST, Thursday, September 15, 2005 to be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed Order (Contract) based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any information received from interested firms/manufacturers responding to this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any questions regarding this Notice shall be in writing and submitted to the Contracting Officer, Jackie R. Johnson, Jr. via email at jjohn@loc.gov.
