Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Alabama Fluid System Technologies (AFST), 26148 Capital Drive, Suite H, Daphne, Alabama, 36526-9108, for the acquisition of the following equipment: twenty (20) each, spring kits (p/n 177-R3A-K1-H), thirty (30) each, HP air cylinders (p/n 316-50DMS6-500), fifty (50) each, SAE/MS union nuts (p/n SS-4-VCO-11-6ST), forty (40) each, positional elbow joints (p/n SS-4-VCO-9P-4ST), thirty (30) each, SAE/MS connectors (p/n SS-4-WVCO-1-4ST), thirty (30) each, relief valves (p/n SS-4R3A-1509), thirty (30) each, male w/c connectors (p/n SS-8-VCO-1-8), sixty (60) each, male connectors (p/n SS-8-WVCO-1-6ST), forty (40) each, closed coupling (p/n SS-8-WVCO-6-DF), and forty (40) each, check valves (with certification) (p/n SS-SHVCO4-5). The required items are only available from Alabama Fluid System Tech (AFST) by direction of COMNAVSEASYSCOM. The materials form highly specialized life support systems under the NAVSEA Diving Certification Authority. Only those articles that have been successfully tested are qualified. Procedures are specified under SS521-AA-MAN-010 U.S. Navy Diving and Manned Hyperbaric Certification Manual. The objective of this process is to verify that the life support system provides acceptable levels of diver safety throughout the specified operating range when approved operating and maintenance procedures are followed. The intent of the process is to provide maximum reasonable assurance that an accident will not occur and establish maximum reasonable assurance that the diver may be recovered without injury if there is an accident. Accordingly, the materials and services are required for modification and maintenance of the Navy assets under cognizance of the Ocean Engineering Program.
