- Description
- The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the manufacture and delivery of Joint Modular Intermodal Containers (JMIC) based on the information and specifications solely provided by the U.S. Navy/U.S. Army. The base contract and options for as many as 500 containers shall be used to support the Limited Military User Assessments and Military User Assessments scheduled in FY06 and FY07 for Joint Modular Intermodal Distribution System (JMIDS) Joint Capability Technical Demonstration (JCTD). The JMIC is an extruded aluminum design composed of common pallet base, front/rear panels, side panels and cover. Its solid-top pallet base deck has an integrated tie-down track and lockable interface fittings. A similar tie-down track around the perimeter of the pallet base accommodates tie-down rings providing the capability for securing the JMIC to a deck. It is a modular design providing the flexibility to configure from a stand-alone pallet base to a collapsible or non-collapse container. Latches lock the components of the container together, whether fully assembled or collapsed. The interface fitting/lifting eye on each corner connecting post, besides being used as the stacking feature, serves as lifting eyes. Four-way entry provisions on the base accommodate standard forklift trucks or pallet trucks. The JMIC has a 3,000 lb gross weight capacity and a tare weight less than 300 pounds. A Technical Data Package (TDP) will be available upon request if a formal solicitation is generated. This TDP and the technology associated with it is government developed and owned with patents pending. Available tooling includes three special extrusion dies. The contractor will be requested to work with Government personnel to support demonstrations that may lead to configuration changes in the design and require design alterations to improve the design or the manufacturing process. All responsible interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data electronically to Calvin Mitchell, Contract Specialist, US ARMY TACOM- Picatinny, AMSTA-AQ-APB, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ; Phone: 973-724-3294, email: Calvin.Mitchell4@pica.army.mil no later than November 16, 2005. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. Please include company name, address, telephone number, email address, technical point of contact, Company Size (please specify as either Large, Foreign, Small, Small Disadvantaged, 8(a), Woman-Owned Small Business, Historically Underutilized Business Zone concern, Veteran-Owned Small Business, or Service-Disabled Small Business), brochures/literature. This is only a Market Survey Notice, not a pre- solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
