- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, Florida intends to issue a modification to contract N61331-05-C-0043 with Klein Associates, 11 Klein Drive, Salem, New Hampshire 03079-1249 for the acquisition of five (5) 0.525? Tow Cables to support the Side Scan Sonar (SSS) System. The SSS System is designed as a real time system in which seafloor imagery data is collected by the Tow Fish and electronically passed through the tow cable, through the winch slip ring and then to the operator console for processing. Deployment, recovery, and normal streaming of the Towfish are performed by the Winch Assembly, Tow Block and the ships stern crane. The tow cables are a component of the termination cable assembly. The cables are an instrumentation and control, center conductor double armored coaxial cable with an outer armored stainless steel layer, grade 316 torque balanced. This contract modification is required because there is a need to have a minimum amount of spares on hand prior to fleet deployments. These requirements were only recently defined and were not known at the time the initial procurement quantities for this contract were established. To date, these are the only tow cables that have been qualified for use. FSC Code 6015, NAICS Code 335921, SBA Size Standard 1,000.
