Description
Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is seeking potential sources to develop an ultrasonic probe to be used to inspect the Rolls Royce F402-RR-408A/B engines, which power the AV-8B Harrier aircraft. The specific part to be inspected is the Low Pressure Chamber 1 (LPC) Disc while it is in the engine. The probe will be inserted through the bore of the LPC1 disc with the engine installed in the aircraft. The specific requirements are as follows: Develop an Ultrasonic probe head to be able to detect cracks in both the convex and concave side of the LPC1 disc post; Provide an estimate for Probability of Detection that can be used for guidance as to the probes reliability for detecting cracks down to 0.160 inch deep (that is the minimum crack size for detection); develop/provide calibration equipment for the probe; provide a Quality Control Test Procedure manual for training and operational purposes; and provide a storage box. The government would provide one stage LPC 1 disc to be used during development. The Navy anticipates buying an initial quantity of five (5) units). Interested parties may provide 1. Catalogs and/or brochures describing the how the proposed equipment can be used to inspect jet engines, 2. Drawings and/or illustrations, 3.Technical Manuals, 4. Catalog Pricing.
