- The Marine Corps Systems Command Program Manager for Assault Amphibious Vehicle Systems is conducting a Sources Sought Market Survey in accordance with FAR Part 10. This notice neither constitutes an Invitation for Bids (IFB) or a Request for Proposal (RFP), nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach. The PM AAVS is looking for sources that can address the needs of the Marine Corps to provide a requirement for a replacement day night sight system for the Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV7A1) Up Gunned Weapons Station (UGWS) M36E3 sight. The current system employs image intensifier technology that amplifies existing light. The current range of detection is limited to less then 1000 meters and this technology does not provide the ability to see through smoke, fog, sand or other obscurants to visible light. The new AAV7A1 day night sight must provide both daylight and night sighting ability to detect targets to 4700 meters, recognize targets to 2500 meters and identify targets at 700 meters and be a replacement for or a modification to the M36E3. As with the current M36E3 system a separate day optical sight will be collocated with the new thermal sight system. The thermal sight system shall provide sighting for both the MK19 and M-2 machine guns. Proprietary information submitted in response to this Sources Sought shall be marked accordingly and will be protected when clearly identified as such. This announcement is for purposes of exchanging information to improve understanding of the Government requirement and industry capability and is for information and planning only. This announcement must not be construed as a commitment by the Government and any information submitted by industry will not constitute an offer which could be accepted by the Government to create a binding contract.
