- NASA/GSFC has a requirement on a sole source basis for a standard Kimball Physics EGG-3101 electron gun and power supply system. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Kimball Physics Inc. in accordance with the requirements of FAR 13.106 for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source. The electron gun shall meet the following specifications: *Shall be mounted to a stainless steel chamber using a 2 ? ? conflate flange. *Shall operate when the chamber pressure is in the 10-6 to 10-8 torr range. *Shall provide a beam that will fill a 1? diameter circle at a minimum working distance of about 80 mm. *Stabilized beam current on the target will range from nano-amp to 100 uamp. *Stabilized energy of the electron beam on the target will range from 100 eV up to 10 keV. *The energy and current of the beam on the target can be independently adjusted. *Beam blanking is possible and; *Gun can be baked to 100 C. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. eastern standard time on the date listed above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
