Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Discipline, Western Region Mineral Resources Program (USGS) in Menlo Park, CA has a requirement for a contractor to build the foundation for various quantitative mineral deposit models. It is anticipated that the duration of this effort will be three total years; one base year and two option years. A successful contractor must be a qualified geologist with experience in economic geology, must be familiar with the use of FileMakerPro, must be familiar with defining mineral deposit types in accordance with USGS Bulletin 1693, must be able to read and understand Russian, and must be available to work in the vicinity of Menlo Park, CA. This last requirement is because a successful contractor must access the USGS library at the Menlo Park campus for successful completion of this task. Based on these requirements, the USGS intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Dr. Vladimir Berger of Mountain View, CA IAW FAR 6.302-1. Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services shall submit a capabilities statement to the Contracting Officer no later than the closing date of this announcement. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. As required by FAR 5.101(a)(1), the forthcoming solicitation (06WRSS0001) will be made available through the GPE, whether or not competitive opportunities have been identified.
