- Description
- The Air Vehicles Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory conducted focused research in rapid-response space-lift by producing liquid oxygen in an airborne vehicle. The proposed contract action will continue this research to include cryogenic fluid testing in a Rotating Fractional Distillation Unit (RFDU). This testing effort will consist of four major subtasks. The first is to perform modifications required to convert the high g test rig (HigRig) incorporating the structured packing test article to cryogenic testing. The second is to design, procure, and assemble all the necessary components to feed cryogenic fluids to the HigRig, vent the exhaust, and take the necessary test data. The third task is to actually perform the high g tests under cryogenic fluid flow conditions, using the test plan and procedures refined during previous room temperature testing. Finally, in the fourth task, data from testing is used to refine all-up RFDU models and predict performance of a full sized unit. No Government Property is available for this effort. The government does not own any test plans, procedures, or analytical models from earlier research efforts. NOTE: This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). Contractors capable of offering this technology must respond within 15 days after publication of this notice and will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties can e-mail capability statements to the Contracting POC, Roger Poteet. A determination by the Government not to compete with this notice is solely within the descretion of the Government. Any questions regarding this announcement may be directed to the Contracting POC.
