- Description
- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intends to negotiate separate single source contracts with three vendors: Garrett Metal Detectors, Garland Texas, CEIA USA, Twinsburg Ohio, and Rapiscan Security Systems, Hawthorne California. The purpose of this work is to provide engineering services to support the government owned Enhanced Metal Detectors (EMD) for life cycle configuration management and checkpoint lane expansion requirements.TSA is negotiating single-source contracts, because as Original Equipment Manufacturers the three vendors referenced above have the requisite proprietary knowledge and rights to perform reconfiguration on their equipment. The three contractors are the only manufacturers on the TSA Enhanced Metal Detectors (EMD) Qualified Vendors List. TSA anticipates a 12 month period of performance; this will allow for the completion of the qualification process for EMD2 contract award.
