Description
The Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Supply Center Philadelphia intends to negotiate a Sole Source contract for the Advanced Bomb Suit and components currently in use by the U.S. Air Force. The requirement is to purchase sustainment quantities for the Advanced Bomb Suit, model EOD-9 manufactured by Med-Eng Systems, Inc. of Canada. The quantities to be procured are 7 each EOD-9 Bomb Suit (Medium), 8 each EOD-9 Bomb Suit (Large), 15 each EOD-9 Helmet with APS, 15 each EOD-9 Breathing Apparatus, 15 each EOD-9 Steel Visor and 15 each Gloves NOMEX with Covers (Large). The Med-Eng EOD-9 Bomb Suit is a proven technology which is currently in use by the Air Force. It is necessary to continue to procure the EOD-9 Bomb Suit and components from Med-Eng Systems in order to ensure compatibility with currently fielded equipment including communications systems and Nuclear, Biological and Chemical protection capabilities. It is believed that no alternative commercial off the shelf bomb suits possess the required overall design and integration of components, ballistics, blast, impact protection and features necessary to meet the Air Force requirements. The Advanced Bomb Suit is a proprietary, unique and innovative system, and is the only Explosive Ordnance Disposal suit system available that adequately meets the Air Force requirements. This acquisition will be sole source to Med-Eng Systems Inc. Drawings are not available. No request for proposal is available for competitive bidding; however, interested parties may submit a statement of capability for satisfying the requirement, to include descriptive literature, within 15 days of this announcement to the contact person listed below.
