- The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to assist the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in gathering information from Industry regarding various forms of tamper-evident and tamper-resistant labels, tape, and locks to be used to secure air cargo. The Government is contemplating the use of labels, tape, and/or locks to determine how to enhance air cargo security throughout the supply chain. Companies are invited to submit product description(s) of their tamper-evident/tamper-resistant labels, tape, and/or locks. This RFI is issued solely for market research, planning and information purposes and is NOT to be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contractual agreement, nor will the Government pay for information solicited hereunder. Do not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. Responses to the RFI will not be returned. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Information Requested: (1) How would you securely seal various types of air cargo (individual boxes, pallets, shrink-wrapped cargo, containers, etc.) with tamper-evident and tamper-resistant labels, tape, and/or locks? (2) What tamper-evident and/or tamper-resistant label, tape, and/or locks does your company offer that would align with your response to Item 1 (3) Please describe the characteristics of the products identified in Item 2. Also describe any of the following features relevant to the product(s): material, size, colors, possible customization, unique serial numbers, resilience in various weather conditions, surfaces to which your seals could be applied, embedded technology (e.g. barcodes, passive RFID, serial numbers). (4) What evidence is visually observable when your labels, tape, and/or locks are tampered with or otherwise manipulated (5) What approach do you recommend for the Government to implement security seals as an enhancement to air cargo security (6) Does your company manufacture other products that may be used to secure cargo transported on aircraft (7) What is the availability or lead time to produce your product? Responses should not exceed fifteen (15) pages and should be submitted not later than 4:00 p.m., (EST) January 25, 2006. If submitting a sample please ensure that your company information is present so that the sample may associated with the textual information provided. The Government will not return any items or information submitted in response to this RFI.
