Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE FOR THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD (USCG) RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER (RDC), GROTON, CT. This RFI is part of a market research effort to assess industry capabilities that will best address the USCG?s need. The USCG RDC is chartered to conduct research, development, testing and evaluation activities. The USCG RDC is seeking sources capable of providing a small self-contained 802.11a/b/g mobile repeater which will be used in a maritime environment to improve communications between Coast Guard (CG) boarding team members below decks. The repeater must meet the following requirements: 1) FIPS compliant; 2) CPU ? Intel PXA 400 MHz performance or better; 3) RAM ? 64MB; 4) Wireless with modular radio options - Mini-PCI, PCI-express, CF, etc. ? must include an integrated 802.11a/b/g radio to start. Radios only need to be shop/depot swapped, not field-swapped; 5) Size ? Volume size no more than 700 cubic cm; 6) Weight ? No heavier than 2 lbs; 7) Status indicator lights LED red, yellow, and green ? software defined; 8) Ruggedized plastic or metal container for environmental protection. Textured surface better than smooth with secured, pull-resistant external ports (USB, jacks, power, etc.); 9) Wall-mountable with multiple mounting options. An example will be a ring for attaching carabiners for hanging inside ship. Rubber-stopper on carabiner for minimizing impact on boarded ship interior; 10) Option for flexible/extendable antenna mounting options; 11) Battery life: 4-8 hrs battery life and rechargeable. Hot-swappable batteries are a plus; 12) PTT interface: Industry-standard PTT jack / interface. External PTT speaker / mic spec'd as part of solution; 13) USB interface for external camera or other devices; 14) Network interface to allow integration of own protocol and to allow other software changes; 15) Support for bluetooth for PAN / biometric; and 16) RFID transmitter a plus. Statements addressing your ability to meet the listed requirements shall be limited to ten (10) pages and must include: A) manufacturing time; B) estimated cost per unit to produce a miniature repeater that meets the above stated requirements; C) describe the manner in which diagnostics will be conducted; D) indicate or document how the CG can load third party software onto the unit; and E) provide any documentation that may be furnished with the unit. NOTE: Actual proposals are not being solicited at this time for the above requirement.
