Description
MARKET SURVEY ROTARY JOINT BEARING PR NUMBER 06-57011 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has a requirement for the acquisition of Rotary Joint Bearings for the Airport Surveillance Radar 9 (ASR-9) system, Kaydon part number 51915201, NSN 3110-01-519-4700. The bearings are used in the L-band portion of the ASR-9 rotary joint. The ASR-9 systems are critical to Air Traffic Control in maintaining safety in the National Air Space (NAS). The rotary joint is used to transmit electrical signals and RF energy to the rest of the antenna assembly while rotating. The L-band cavity of the rotary joint transmits signals for the beacon radar. Kaydon is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the rotary joint bearings. Kaydon maintains proprietary rights to the development, design, and test data. The FAA lacks technical data, plans, drawings, manufacturing specifications, and other necessary documentation for full and open competition. The contractor must have access to the OEM's specifications and drawings or be an authorized distributor of Kaydon. Potential sources must provide documentation to the FAA showing proof of rights to use the data from the OEM or documentation identifying your company as an authorized distributor. Statements that data will be obtained or that specifications or drawings will be developed are not acceptable. Only those responses providing the required documentation in response to this market survey will be considered prior to further action by the FAA. Interested parties who can comply with and meet all of the requirements called out in this market survey must provide their responses with Market Survey File 06-57011, to arrive by April 14, 2006, no later than 2:30 pm CST. Email responses to sherrie.files@faa.gov. The FAA will not pay for any information received or costs incurred in preparing responses to this market survey. Any proprietary information should be so marked. This market survey shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the FAA to acquire these items. Responders to this market survey may be asked to provide additional details/information based on their initial submittal.
