Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/ and the Navy Electronic Commerce on line (NECO) site at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case that FBO is not available. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by NSWC Division Crane. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division is seeking sources for a shot counter to be used on the Carl Gustaf M3 Recoilless Rifle. Depending on environmental conditions and the type of ammunition used, the Carl Gustaf recoil may range from negative 3.5 ft/lbs to positive 20 ft/lbs. The barrel of the Carl Gustaf is life limited to 1053 rounds. For this reason, the shot counter must maintain an accurate count in all environmental conditions encountered by USSOCOM personnel in the performance of their duties. These duties would include air drop of the weapon and operation of the weapon around various larger and smaller caliber weapons. Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and/or developmental items will be considered. It would also be preferable if no additional actions are required in the use of the weapon to activate the shot counter. All interested parties will be given the broadest possible latitude for the design of the shot counter consistent with safety, operational,! environmental and performance requirements. All interested parties should submit a description of their product and/or development capabilities. Requested information should be provided no later that 3:00 PM CST, 31 May 2006. Technical Point of Contact is Mr.Michael Liebig, telephone (812) 854-4698, Email michael.liebig@navy.mil. The mailing address is NAVSURFWARCENDIV Crane, Attn: Michael Liebig, 300 Highway 361, Code 4083, Bldg. 2521, Crane, IN 47522-5001. It should be noted that during the course of this activity, the Government plans to utilize employees from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as advisors to the Government. This sources sought synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part any input as a result of this market survey. All information marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-government personnel and entities. Your interest in this response is appreciated.
