Description
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) intends to negotiate a contract on the basis of Other Than Full and Open Competition IAW 10 USC 2304?(1), only one responsible source. NRL will negotiate with Raytheon Company, Vision Systems, 75 Coromar Drive, Goleta, CA 93117. NRL is developing state-of-the-art short wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral sensor systems. NRL previously procured four focal plane arrays in a competitive award with Raytheon Company. Two of these focal plane arrays will be incorporated into hyperspectral sensors and the required hyperspectral performance can be achieved only if the arrays are operated at lower cryogenic temperatures, thereby requiring cooling systems for two of the focal plane arrays. The cooling system consists of an evacuated dewar container that contains the focal plane array and electrical connectors that transmit the electrical signals generated by the focal plane array outside of the dewar assembly. The contractor will provide a closed cycle Cryogenic Cooling system for a SWIR Focal Plane Array. The cooling system shall have low noise electrical interconnects and a cold shield for controlling stray radiation for the detector array. The contractor will integrate the array and test the system. The cryogenic cooling system shall be capable of maintaining vacuum integrity for 2 years. Other business opportunities for NRL are available at our website http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/rfplist.htm. See numbered note 22 and 26.
