Description
The purpose of this Sources Sought/Market Research is to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing the 25mm PGU-23 Target Practice (TP) Cartridge, NSN 1305-01-390-7977, P/N 1305-A978. An estimated base quantity for a potential procurement is 115,500 cartridges. An option may be included for out-year requirements. The main components of the PGU-23 TP cartridge are the steel projectile body, propellant, steel cartridge case, and percussion primer. Production of the 25MM PGU-23 TP is very c omplex and requires sophisticated industrial capabilities. A respondent to this market survey must have the skills and production capabilities available to manufacture and prove out the 25MM PGU-23 TP Cartridge. Specific skills required to manufacture the 25MM PGU-23 TP Cartridge are as follows: propellant experts, set-up mechanics, machinists, process engineers and inspection personnel with the critical skills needed to successfully produce this round. Specific production capabilities required include: eq uipment to Load, Assemble, and Pack (LAP) this cartridge, required propellant storage and handling facilities, ballistic test equipment and specialized machine tooling unique to the manufacture of the PGU-23 HEI cartridge. A producer must be able to compl ete a First Article Test. Interested firms who feel they are capable of manufacturing the 25MM PGU-23 TP Cartridge are invited to indicate their interest by providing the Government a brief summary of their company's capabilities, including a brief descri ption of facilities, personnel, available production capacity, and past manufacturing experience as it relates to the above criteria. Information must be submitted to schmollj@afsc.army.mil not later than May 16, 2006 and identify 25MM PGU-23 TP Cartridge s Sources Sought/Market Research as the subject of the response. This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to aw ard a contract based on this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited.
