- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for an Integrated Medical Model which quantifies the level of medical risk related to space flight by identifying the most likely medical conditions, treatment options and medical skills required for different mission scenarios. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the services from The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. This effort requires expertise with clinical practice and research experience associated with the effect on fracture risk of medical conditions such as loss of bone mineral density, bone turnover rates, bone micro architecture, collagen content of bone and the effects of pharmaceuticals preventing loss of bone mineral density. Dr. Angelo Licata of the Cleveland Clinic is the only physician in the greater Cleveland area with the necessary qualifications and experience in this area of research. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See note 22. [Be aware that note 22 allows interested parties 45 days to respond] Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 18, 2006. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
