- This is a request for information only. The information provided in response to this notice will assist the Government in determining the extent of the small business and socio-economic market for the type of work described herein. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and potential technical capability of small businesses and 8(a) firms for Services to Process Stream Macro-invertebrate Samples. The contract will be for services to process stream macro-invertebrate samples collected from roughly 18 streams in the Salmon River Basin. The intended procurement will be classified under NAICS code 541710 with a size standard of 500 employees. NOTE: THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL BUT A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. No solicitation document is available. No contract will be awarded on the basis of responses to this notice. The project will require samples collected with a Hess sampling device. In general, the contractor will work with NOAA personnel to develop and refine processing protocols as more is learned about the quality and quantity of invertebrates in these samples. The specific services needed with respect to the two sample types are as follows: Hess Samples and Drift Samples. One dry weight per sample. Deliverables: Taxonomic information, taxa lists and associated counts, QA/QC reports and invertebrate community metric calculations, Biomass data (hess and drift), Length data (body and head capsule) for drift organisms, Voucher specimen collection. The contractor shall work with designated NOAA staff to discuss the detail and format of electronic data and printed reports. NOAA intends to negotiate a firm fixed price contract for the work described above.
